Hi, I’m Chris Jacobson, the South Dakota Triathlete. Many years ago I ran division I cross country and track at the University of Portland. After getting married and having four children and working a full-time job, I found myself over weight and feeling like something was missing. My journey started with getting back into running to get fitter, and morphed into wanting to try out a triathlon to see if I could do one. That’s when I got hooked! Two years later I have managed to qualify for the 2022 and 2023 Ironman 70.3 World Championships events. Follow me on my progression in the sport, with the ultimate goal of qualifying for the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii.
I’m not the only athlete in the family. My wife is the most competitive person I know (besides me). She is talented triathlete in her own right, winning her age group at several local events over the years. My three sons have all participated in youth triathlon, and swim for the local swim club. We all love competing and challenging one another to reach our goals. Its fun to watch the children form their goals in part based on the training that my wife and I do.
